The United Arab Emirates referred to the fighting as a “historic moment” in the Middle East and claimed that world leaders had not done enough to maintain stability in the area. While other Arab countries denounced Iran’s reprisal, the leaders of some US allies voiced their concerns.
The U.S. Embassy in Manama, Bahrain, posted on social media that American citizens in Bahrain should “stay alert in case of additional future attacks, review security plans in the event of an attack, and shelter in place.”
These warnings coincide with reports from Iran’s state-affiliated media that, quoting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, four US bases in the Middle East were targeted in retaliation for US and Israeli bombings on Iranian cities.
According to Fars news agency, which cited the IRGC, Iranian missile attacks were directed against the US Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain, Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, and Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
