Tinubu is Criticized by Plateau locals for speaking to attacked victims at the airport.

Following President Bola Tinubu’s visit to the state on Thursday to offer condolences to the victims of the Palm Sunday attack in Gari Yawaye, a community in Angwan Rukuba of Jos North Local Government Area where over thirty people were killed and numerous others were injured, some Plateau State residents chastised Tinubu.

However, the President’s post-violence tour to the state ended up at the Yakubu Gowon Airport in Heipang, some 100 kilometers away from the attack location, where he delivered a speech before leaving the state.

Many locals, however, believed that the President’s visit lacked empathy.

Many felt he ought to have gone to the hospital to see the victims or traveled to the impacted community.

The irate locals, who expressed their opinions on social media, question why Tinubu would speak to people at the airport when the actual victims were far away.

Kacholom Luka was the first to launch the attack with this Facebook post:

“Mr. President, welcome to Plateau State’s Heipang Airport. Are the attack victims who are being treated in the hospital being brought there so you may see them? Is it inappropriate for you to visit the victims in the hospital? Everyone in this nation is doing well.

“I don’t know our crimes and offenses, but surely I believe God is punishing us with these kinds of leaders we have at the moment. A leader sympathizing and addressing victims in an armored truck, a president sitting and welcoming high dignitaries and stakeholders at the airport.” – Comrade Bright Gyang
