In his post, Trump claimed the U.S. military was “totally destroying the terrorist regime of Iran, militarily, economically, and otherwise.”
The president then attacked media coverage of the conflict, saying, “If you read the Failing New York Times, you would incorrectly think that we are not winning.”
“Iran’s Navy is gone, their Air Force is no longer, missiles, drones and everything else are being decimated, and their leaders have been wiped from the face of the earth,” the president added.
The president then threatened Iran’s leadership, saying, “Watch what happens to these deranged scumbags today,” and said they have been killing “innocent people all over the world for 47 years.”
A short while after Trump’s posts, the Israeli military said it launched “wide-scale” strikes in Tehran against the Iranian regime, amid reports from Iranian media of explosions being heard in the country’s capital.
